Interview Skills - Peter's Story

Case Study - Before

Peter was looking to gain a promotion at his current organisation, he had previously interviewed for the position but had come up short. The prospect of another chance was daunting for him, but it was great opportunity to further his career and start a new phase in his life. Like most people Peter was very anxious about the interview especially difficult and unexpected questions.

Case Study - After

After attending our Interview Skills course, Peter realised that the key to interview success was preparation. During the course he analysed the job description and that gave him a better idea on what questions could be asked.

He started developing a series of case studies which he turned into stories using the STAR method. He could then aim each answer at evidencing a range of competencies. He thought about the difficult and challenging tasks he had done and realised he had plenty of experiences to use. He also came up with a list of questions that he could ask the interviewers.

Benefits

Peter conducted the interview and got the job, he felt his interview performance was much stronger and was more assured that previous. Having his answers prepared before had given him the upper hand, and he felt he could even answer the most difficult of interview questions.
