    Be efficient and effective

Often those who seem to work the longest and hardest are not necessarily the best performers. Being effective with your time will increase your efficiency and therefore improve your performance. Remember you cannot manage time but you can manage tasks.

    Procrastination

Procrastination is putting off the doing of something deliberately and consistently. Ask yourself: why am I putting this off? If you do not have a reason then get on with it. Procrastination wastes time and without it you can maximise your time and energy.

    Why delegate tasks?

Delegation in the workplace is a vital factor in managing your tasks. If tasks can be competently completed by another member of staff or a suitable assistant then it will allow you to concentrate on other tasks and also develop the workers who have been delegated the work. The advantages of delegation are clear, you can save time and make best use of resources that surround you.

    Difficulties in delegation

Delegation is not without its disadvantages. It is natural to want to complete all tasks yourself as it gives you a reassurance that things have been completed to your exact standards. Also it may be a concern that a member of staff, who you have been delegating tasks to, can suddenly do your job. You also may enjoy in doing certain tasks that need to be delegated to improve efficiency.
