There are a variety of different difficult people who you may encounter, some may talk constantly which could have a detrimental impact on their performance whilst also effecting other staffs concentration. Other difficult people may undermine your authority by being critical of your work. Difficult people can be recognise by these characteristics:
They do not turn their work in on time
They stick to their views
They refuse to collaborate
They do not listen
They pass on their responsibilities
They can be unpredictable and erratic
These are just some characteristics of people that you may face during your working life, and it is highly unlikely that you can avoid them forever. The aim of this half day Dealing with Difficult People course is to equip you with the skills needed to deal with these individuals. A good start to dealing with a difficult person is asking yourself this questions "why are they behaving in this manner?" Understanding why someone acts in a particular way is often part of the solution. With this we can move on and look at techniques and methods in how to deal with a variety of people in the chain of command.
If situations are not addressed then the problem will only get worse this can have a number of consequences including; irrational behaviour and thinking, an impact on the self-esteem and confidence of staff members, an increase in stress related sickness to name a few.
On this course you will start by asking yourself this questions 'why are they behaving in this manner?' Understanding why someone acts in a particular way is often part of the solution. You will also examine your own actions, 'are you sure that you are not overreacting?' We will help you look at the situation neutrally and search for possible patterns in that persons behaviours, 'did they always act like this?' With this we can move on and look at techniques and methods in how to deal with a variety of people in the chain of command.
